![]() ![]() So, he operated in a post-racial mindset. He had to try to make things just a little less awkward than what we have grown up seeing (as evident in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner). He was dating a white woman and going to visit her white family. My theory is that Chris believed he was in this post racial society that people speak of. But I just find it interesting how this could happen to Chris in Get Out. Does this mean….does this mean I am in a post racial household?Īll jokes aside, and for those readers who may be concerned for my safety, I am not at all worried about my white housemates trying to capture me and inject their brain into my body. ![]() SASHA THUMPER HOW TOAm I broken? Or are these white people really just…normal and non-problematic? So they don’t want to exploit my body for capital gain? To put their consciousness into my head and use my assets? I don’t know how to feel. I now have both my double consciousness and hindsight working in my favor….yet…there’s nothing. Something that Chris (the main character from Get Out) chose not to pick up on during his stay. Waiting for something to come off as ‘a little strange’ or ‘a bit odd’. We always see the world as horror-filled, that’s why we are not shocked when something horrific happens. That’s why the horror genre doesn’t typically work with our complexion. I read this article that said the black people have almost a sixth sense when it comes to scoping out bad situations. Make sure you are not getting yourself into a situation. You always need to keep an awareness about you. Now, I don’t think these sweet white people are at all like the evil Armitages of Get Out, but I have been black long enough to know that you can never trust anything. ![]()
